The Story Behind Every Bite

Cafe Rio began in 2019 with a single, powerful idea: that food could be both vibrant and genuine. Our founders — a pair of passionate food lovers with deep roots in Latin cuisine — opened the first Cafe Rio in Millcreek, Utah, determined to bring bold, hand-crafted flavors to the community.

What started as a humble neighborhood spot quickly became a beloved destination. Word spread fast — not because of fancy marketing, but because of the unmistakable quality of each dish. Every tortilla is pressed fresh. Every salsa is made in-house. Every bowl is assembled with care and intention.

2019

The First Kitchen

Cafe Rio opened its very first location at 4764 Highland Dr, Millcreek, Utah. A small space, a big vision — and a line out the door from day one.

2020

Community Champion

During uncertain times, Cafe Rio launched a community meal program — delivering hundreds of free meals weekly to healthcare workers and families in need across Utah.

2021

Expanding Horizons

Demand grew beyond Utah. Cafe Rio expanded to three new states, bringing its signature bold Latin flavors to thousands of new guests across the United States.

2022

Catering Launch

Cafe Rio officially launched its full-service catering division, bringing event catering to weddings, corporate events, and private celebrations nationwide.

2023

Franchise Program

The caferio franchise program was born — empowering passionate entrepreneurs across the country to bring the Cafe Rio experience to their own communities.
